If You Build it They Will Come!

Your looking at the girl's new play yard (or something like that). Tom calls it their "playpen". Whatever...., I call it uninterrupted bliss! The girls have been playing on this constantly since Tom got it put together yesterday afternoon. We managed to scoop this unit from a local online classified listing. It it hard to see but it has 3 levels and the stairs are to the back. This fall or next Spring we will bring in some sand to surround the whole thing. Right now it is dug into the ground so it isn't moving anywhere. Tom plans on some minor "modifications". He is going to heighten the swings to the very top with a larger beam and extend the beam to add on a tire swing. He will have to add some extra length to the chains of the swings but it should work out to be a kick ass swing set when he is all done. Hopefully are girls won't out-grow it too quickly, but there are lots of cousins and friends that will be able to make use of it.

Getting it home was an adventure. We had it apart in 2 places and the slides off of course. It all fit quite nicely on the back of the 3 ton that had the bale rack on it. Lots of rope and slow driving made it an interesting ride home. Never mind that the girls were hooked into one seat belt across both of them and we were super paranoid. The set is about 4 years old but it really is totally brand new for us. Finally we can junk the old set that was Tom's when he was a kid. The nice thing about this unit is that we hardly had anything to put together. I can't imagine if you bought this as a kit and had to put it together. You would go nuts or drive yourself to drink. We only had 3 pieces to put together and I think we are pretty "handy" and it still took us 3 hours to complete and we still needed a drink!!

It did cost a pretty penny but I think it is priceless when I see the joy on my little girl's faces and hear Kaela tell Tom, "Your my best Dad"! (like she has so many other's to choose from, lol!!!). Mienna has even declared that this is going to be a "home birthday" party for her this year in September. Priceless!!!!!

Very very nice. The old swings were a little bit scary and were about to fall apart any day.

What do you mean the girls may outgrow it, I am planning to play on it next time I am home. It better hold up to 135 pounds.
